  • Paryushana, Mahavir Jayanti and Diwali are popular festivals of Jains in Uttar Pradesh.

Kumbhe Mela organised in month[Feb-March] is a major festival held every twelve years in rotation at  Allahabad, Haridwar, Ujjain, on river Ganga and Nasik on the Godavari river.

Munshi Premchand, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, Hazari Prasad Dwivedi, Mahadevi Varma, Vibhuti Narain Rai, are few author’s who modernized  the Hindi literature.

Ustad Bismillah Khan was an Indian musician credited with popularizing the shehnai and also awarded by the Bharat Ratna,in 2001. He died at aged of 90 in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India

Kathak, a  classical dance form acquire its origin to the state of Uttar Pradesh


Uttar Pradesh  ranks 1st in domestic tourist arrivals with more than 71 millions. Million gather at Allahabad to pursue in the Kumbhe Mela where  over 12 million Hindu tourist gather in one of the largest gathering of people in the world.

Uttar Pradesh gives access to 3 world heritage sites: Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri.

Gautama Buddha  gave his first sermon after his wisdom at Sarnath and died at Kushinagar. Both are the important sites (expedition) for Buddhist. And Sarnath also famous for Pillar of Ashoka and the Lion Capital of Ashoka. And Nearby Varanasi is an ancient city famous for its Ghats and Temples.


Hindi is used as medium of instruction in most of the schools except those affiliated with CBSE or the counsil for ISCE.

State Legislative Body can be divided into Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Parishad and Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha.

The Governor is Head of state and is appointed by the President of India.

Last Legislative assembly largest number of seat went to Samajwadi Party with 224 Seats.
